Candy Cane Park
This park redevelopment has been made possible through the Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant. OSLAD is a state-financed grant program administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources that provides funding assistance to local government agencies for acquisition and/or development of land for public parks and open space.
The Village Board approved pursuit and submission of the grant application in 2019 for the redevelopment of Candy Cane Park. In January of 2020, the Village was awarded the grant by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for $340,000 or 50% match of the anticipated original $680,000 redevelopment).
The Village board approved several alternate features to increase the play value and walkability of the park, with total cost of the redevelopment being about $750,000. Hitchcock Design Group was our Landscape Engineer for design & Integral Construction Inc. was our construction company on the project.
